Youth Director Nate Larson

Nate LarsonHello, my name is Nate Larson and I am the Youth Director here at Sunnycrest United Methodist Church. We have many things to offer youth here at Sunnycrest. Let me share some of those things with you.

Our goal at Sunnycrest is to play a role in helping youth begin a relationship with Jesus, grow in their relationship with Jesus, and learn how to share Christ’s love with others. We aim to have a community where young people can come, be known, loved, and challenged. We work hard at equipping youth to reach out in love to those outside of the church walls. (We will also have TONS of fun!)

We want to invite anyone from 6th – 12th grade to come alongside us on this journey. We invite you to come with us regardless of where you on your faith journey, and we will stay with you every step of the way. There is no judgment here only an abundance of grace and love.

We offer various activities from weekly youth group meetings, to Bible studies, lock-ins, trips, game nights, and service projects, just to name a few.

If you have any questions please contact me.

Sunnycrest youth

Youth group photoAs a church we ask that you "Come grow with us," which is our invitation to you regardless of where you are in your faith journey. This family of God here at Sunnycrest is a very warm and welcoming bunch, and we invite you to come visit and see for yourself.

Another youth group photoWhile there are many reasons to visit the youth group such as "fun," there is so much more. Here at Sunnycrest we are committed to planting the seed of faith and nurturing the disciple and ministry that lies within each of us. I mean like it or not, we all have a ministry — each day someone takes notice of you and associates a label to you.

Proverbs 22:6 says: "Train up a child in the way they should go, Even when they are old they will not depart from it." And Ephesians 6:10-18 talks about putting on "the full armor of God." The hope is that the youth here grow into authentic Christians empowered by the word of God, thinking for themselves, while always remembering the Great Commission and striving to become more Christ-like.
Our hope is that they will go out and make disciples of all nations. Impacting all those around them including friends, family, their schools, their church, and dare I say it; the world!

We want for our youth to see their potential and help them discern or listen to where God is leading them. After all, it is a trick question whether or not God is calling you because you know He is, but the question is, are you listening? No one said being a Christian would be easy, but know that we all need a network we can rely on.

Still another youth group photoNow, we know that Sunnycrest isn't for everyone and our youth group is no exception, but know that ALL are welcome. All in all, our goal is to help others grow and to strengthen that relationship with Jesus Christ and no one said we couldn't have fun while doing it. At youth group we try to provide an atmosphere of security, fun, fellowship while challenging you at the same time. And if you do take up the invitation, know that you are always respected whether you decided to join us at youth group, small groups, or Bible Study.
So lets recap: Sunnycrest Youth will help you grow in your faith, accept you for who and where you are in your faith journey, and allow you to have the freedom to think for yourself while enhancing your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And you may not know this, but in the process you may become disoriented-not knowing you're being changed into the person God has always wanted you to become. We all have potential and we can all continue to grow and learn more about ourselves and God's plan. Inclosing, I'd like to leave you with this: Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

So, Come Grow with us.
